How I Transformed from a Lazy Reader to a Book Reading Lover?
Nov 28, 2024
Reading habit plays a huge part in personal growth in any field. Today, I’m sharing 3 simple tips that helped me to develop the reading habit, even as someone who wasn’t naturally inclined to read a lot.
Habit of Reading Books
Tip 1: Create an Encouraging Environment
Creating a productive environment is the key to success in any habit—and reading is no exception!
By keeping books within sight, we’re more likely to reach for them during free moments.
Even more keeping books within arm’s reach in the spaces where you spend the most time—like your desk, bedside table, or personal space—makes it even easier and more inviting to pick up a book and start reading.
Tip 2: Create momentum by setting micro goals

If you’re completely new to book reading, here’s a simple and effective plan:
Pick a book that excites you.
Set a daily goal of reading just 5 pages—yes, just 5 pages!
Stick to it every single day, whether you’re feeling motivated or not.
Soon enough, reading will become second nature. Once it’s a habit, you can easily raise your goal to 10 or even 20 pages daily.
Tip 3: Break Down the Big Picture (Before you read a book)

Sometimes, finishing a whole book feels overwhelming—especially for beginners. But consider this:
A 300-page book might seem intimidating, but…
But if you read just 10 pages daily, you’ll finish it in 30 days.
That’s just one month to complete a book!
With this approach, starting and sticking to reading becomes a lot easier—and far less intimidating.
Building a reading habit doesn’t have to be difficult. Start small, stay consistent, and watch the magic unfold. Hope these tips will help you also build your reading habit.
