I have been a solopreneur for the past one year and doing productive products for individuals. I have learned many things that helped me to have a better mindset as a solopreneur. I will share a few of them in this article and hope these will be helpful to you too.
When we start doing business, our mindset plays an important role in accepting certain things and keep moving forward.
A small story really helped me to avoid overthinking:
Like any other solopreneur, I also had a problem with overthinking when I was doing something new and didn’t have a clear idea and full visual of that. One day I watched a clip of a podcast video, In which one person told a small story that he read in a book (I don’t remember the person or video or book he mentioned only the story attached to my mind)
“One little boy and one horse trying to cross a fog-covered bridge. Then the boy told to the horse I couldn’t see the other end of the bridge because of the fog. The horse replied, Are you able to see your next step? The boy said, Yes. The horse replied, Then take your next step. once you take a step forward you can able to see your next step and eventually, you can reach the other end of the bridge“
Like the horse said in that story when we are doing something new we can’t see the full view. When we started working on that then we were able to see what to do next. If we continue working on that eventually we reach our goal one day. This small story really helped me to avoid overthinking. When I am worried about something I do always remember this story every time.
I was a product-based person:
I am a first-time entrepreneur so when I started doing business I always focused on building and improving products. I thought products would reach themselves if we kept on improving them. So I spent less time on marketing.
Later I realized how good your product doesn’t matter. Your marketing on product matters the most.
“An average product with good marketing will outwork the good product with bad marketing”
So I increased the time on marketing the product rather than keep building it. So I was able to see significant growth in my product’s reach. So make more eyes to see your product.
Action gives you knowledge:
Whenever we are start something new we spend more time building knowledge about the thing before we start. After we put action also we keep learning. Learning about things is good but real knowledge about business comes when you start doing actions about it.
Because everybody has a different style in doing and understanding the business. Mostly start working on things before deeply learning them.
“Your actions will create your own style in business”
So I mostly start working on the things once I get the outline context of it. When I take more action about it, It will give me practical knowledge about what works and what doesn’t.
