How I 10x’d My Productivity? (Without Working More Hours)

Productivity, Productivity Tips

Productivity isn’t just about working harder. It depends on multiple factors — how we plan our day, our energy levels, and the systems we use to align our tasks.

Even though I was working hard, I often felt like I wasn’t doing enough.

Some days, I worked on whatever came to mind instead of following a plan. Other times, I picked the wrong time to do a task and struggled to finish it. I jumped between tasks without completing them. And yeah — some days, procrastination totally crushed my motivation.

Sound familiar?

If you’ve experienced any of this, keep reading. In this article, I’m sharing the exact 3 techniques I used to fix my productivity leaks and boost my results — instantly.

I’m a solopreneur creating Notion templates to help people plan, track, and grow in their everyday lives. Over time, I realized that tweaking how I work matters more than working longer hours.

Once I implemented these 3 techniques, I started feeling truly productive. Tasks got done — quickly and completely. Best of all, I ended each day with a sense of satisfaction.

Let’s dive in.

1. Task Boxing: Grouping Similar Tasks

Productivity, Productivity Tips

One of my biggest problems was jumping between totally different kinds of tasks. For example, I’d go from writing a blog post to designing a template to answering emails. It was mentally exhausting.

So I started Task Boxing — organizing tasks by category. Here’s how I grouped mine:

  • 🧩 Product Development
  • ✉️ Email Marketing
  • ✍️ Blog Writing
  • 📣 Social Media Posting

Now, I focus on one category at a timeIt keeps my brain in the right mode and helps me clearly measure progress in each area.

2. Aligning Tasks with Energy Levels

Productivity, Productivity Tips

I realized that my energy naturally rises and falls throughout the day — and trying to force deep work during low-energy hours just didn’t work. I am more an evening person.

So I tracked my energy patterns and divided my day into three zones:

  • High Energy → Evening
  • Medium Energy → Morning
  • Low Energy → Afternoon

Now I know when I’m best suited for high-focus work vs. lighter tasks. For you, the timings might be different — but identifying your peak productivity zones is crucial.

Pro Tip: You’ll get the most out of the next technique once you understand your energy levels.

3. Time Blocking: Plan It, Stick to It

Productivity, Productivity Tips

Once I knew my energy flow, I started Time Blocking — assigning specific task types to specific time slots in my day.

Here’s what my current setup looks like:

  • High Energy (Evening): Product development, deep design work
  • Medium Energy (Morning): Blog writing, light website tasks
  • Low Energy (Afternoon): Social media prep, email marketing, admin work

The key is consistency. When I assign tasks this way and stick to the plan, I stay focused and never feel like I’m wasting time.

Since implementing these techniques, my productivity has skyrocketed. I feel like I’m finally working with intention — not just reacting to whatever pops up. Even on days I work fewer hours, I get more done. And I end the day feeling proud instead of drained.

If you’ve been feeling stuck or scattered, give these a try. Small shifts like this made a huge difference for me. Let me know in the comments — have you tried any of these techniques? What works for you?
